Welcome to Somers!

I-94 Project Update

Highway KR under I-94 is now open.

Highway A under I-94 will close Monday Aug. 5 and Tuesday Aug. 6 from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

On Saturday August 10, Highway KR will reopen from Lake Michigan to Union Grove. At that time the intersecions of Highway KR and 100th Ave. as well as 113th Ave. will be closed. These intersections will remain closed until the east bound lanes are constructed, which is expected to be completed in late October or early November.

Fire Department holds training

The Somers Fire and Rescue Department used a house purchased last year by Kenosha County on the east side of Highway 31, just north of Highway JR, for a training exercise on Sunday July 29, 2019. The property was the last private home surrounded by Petrifying Springs Park land.

Somers opens cooling site

The Somers Fire Station is available to residents who want to get away from the heat from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. until Sunday July 21.

With the high heat and humidity over the region, for your saftey, make sure to drink plenty of water and reduce your exposure to the heat.

Long-term closure of Highway KR annouced

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has scheduled to begin a long-term closure of Highway KR between Highway H and 100th Avenue this coming Monday evening, July 22. The closure will last about a month depending on weather.

This is being done to accommodate reconstruction of the intersection of KR and H.

The recommended detour is Highway H to Highway A to the I-94 frontage roads.
