Welcome to Somers!

Update from DOT

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation annouced today that increased traffic enforcement will take place in construction zone starting immediately. In addition, lane markings will be improved.
No additional closures are scheduled until July 18. The only closures will be 7 Mile Road under I-94 on the night of June 27, and one lane of I-94 from Ryan Road to Oak Road the night of June 2.
East Frontage Road will be closed from Highway 11 to Highway E Monday July 8 for storm sewer work just north and south of Highway A.

911 service adds texting

Kenosha County Joint Services just announced that cell phone users in the county will now be able to text 911. The new service will be beneficial to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

When using the service, officials ask that you include your location (full address if possible) as dispatch is not able to pinpoint your exact location, and the nature of your emergency.

There is no guarantee that your text message will be delivered as intended. If it was transmitted successfully, the sender should receive an automated return message confirming delivery.

Tax Audit released

When the village of Somers adopted its 2019 budget, it needed to fund additional first responder services. The board approved the increase to the budget to be paid through increase revenue from new construction. That would have resulted in additional services with no increase in taxes to residents.

Road Closure June 26

Alford Park Drive will be closed near Carthage College from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 26, 2019 to accommodate the funeral procession for Racine Police Officer John Hetland. Traffic will be diverted onto the Sheridan Road truck route, with Law Enforcement from Kenosha County and the City of Kenosha providing traffic control.

For a map of the closure, click here

The funeral will take place at Carthage College, 2001 Alford Park from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
