Four citizens of Somers were presented Certificates of Appreciation for their dedication and service to the community.  On behalf of the Village and Town Boards, all Somers employees, and all residents of Somers thank all of you for your time, talent, and a job well done!

Gloria Barros, after serving a total of 20 years as poll worker, announced she was retiring from this position.  Gloria served as a poll worker for the City of Kenosha for 15 years and Somers for 5 years.  A resident of Somers she cheerfully served her community, never complaining about those long Presidential election days!  Gloria, we wish you a wonderful retirement!

Al Ferber served as Town Supervisor in 2006, 2010, and as well as interim Supervisor in 2015.  We appreciate his willingness to serve and value his contribution to serving the citizens of our community.  As a result of incorporation, Al’s Supervisor term ended in 2015 because he resided in the Village of Somers and was no longer eligible to serve on the Town Board. Thank you Al!

Judy Schantek served as Town Supervisor from 2012 to 2015.  Additionally, she was the Board liaison for the Parks Committee.  The 2016 July 4th Somers Parade and Ice Cream Social celebration will be J’s 4th year of spearheading this popular Somers community event.  Judy is an elementary teacher at Somers Elementary.  Her Supervisor term ended in 2015 because she resided in the Village of Somers and was no longer eligible to serve on the Town Board.  Thank you Judy!

Ben Harbach has a long history of serving on various Boards in Somers and Kenosha County. He served on the Somers Parade Committee for 11 years, Town of Somers Plan Commission for 10 years, Town Board Supervisor for 16 years, and Chairman of the Town of Somers Board of Supervisors from 2013 to 2015.  As a result of incorporation, his position of Chairman ended in 2015 because he resided in the Village of Somers and was no longer eligible to serve on the Town Board. Thank you Ben for your leadership, accomplishments, and involvement in our community.
