On behalf of the residents, businesses, Somers staff, and Somers Village and Town Board, the donations received from the following businesses are greatly appreciated!

SMOKE DETECTORS

Somers Fire & Rescue has initiated a new smoke detector program to prevent injuries and death due to fire and smoke.  The Department’s goal is to inventory smoke detectors in the station so they can be installed in residences who do not have a detector, or replace one that is not working.  Thank you for being the first local businesses to assist in our effort to keep our community safe.

Safe Kids Kenosha-Racine*
*Safe Kids Kenosha-Racine is led by Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints, which provides dedicated and caring staff, operation support, and other resources to assist in achieving our common goal: keeping kids safe.  Based on the needs of the community, this coalition implements evidence-based programs, such as car-seat checkups, safety workshops, and sports clinics, that help parents and caregivers prevent childhood injuries.

PENS – Educators Credit Union

While Lt. Pete Wicklund was conducting banking business at Educators Credit Union, he noticed pens on the counter and mentioned how pens used on Somers Fire & Rescue report clipboards on fire rigs and ambulances seem to walk away from the vehicles!  The staff at Educators responded by offering to donate a few.  Lt. Wicklund gladly accepted the offer, thinking he would receive a dozen pens.  He never expected to receive an entire box!  Although the Educators branch is located in the City of Kenosha, the Village of Somers boundary is directly across the street on Highway 31 and Somers Fire & Rescue is responsible for emergency calls on Highway 31 in front the Educators branch.  We thank our neighbors at Educators for their donation!
