Construction on Kenosha County Highway S is ongoing.
The intersection of Highway S (38th Street) and EA (72nd Avenue) is now reopen to traffic. It was closed starting June 15 to realign the intersection.
Other completed part of the project include:
- Underground relocation of fiber optic communication lines along Canadian Pacific Railway
- New traffic pattern at Brumback Boulevard and County Highway H
- Grading and stone placement on Frontage Road
Once completed, Highway S will expand to a four-lane, divided highway between Green Bay Road, and Interstate 94. It will include additional turn lanes, replacement of traffic signals, improvements to drainage, and the construction of an off-road, multi-use path for bicyclists and pedestrians.
Ongoing work include:
- Gas main relocation
- Communication lines installation
- Underground utility relocations along Highway H
- Pile driving and pier construction for Highway S bridge over Canadian Pacific Railroad
- Storm sewer and pipe culvert installations along the new westbound lanes between Canadian Pacific Railway and Highway EA, and along Highway H, north of Highway S
- Ditch cutting and topsoil placement between 84th Avenue and Highway EA.
- Stormwater pond excavation
The project is broken into two phases:
- Phase 1 includes the roughly 2-mile stretch from Highway 31 (Green Bay Road) to just west of Highway H (88th Avenue).
- Phase 2 includes the roughly 1.6-mile stretch between Highway H and the Amazon west driveway.
Work on the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
