The Village/Town of Somers Building Inspection Department provides timely, responsible, professional, and efficient service to residents and developers.  The staff is responsible for the compliance of all required federal, state, and county codes and ordinances.

Somers Building Inspector Scott Seymour would like to let everyone know of upcoming changes to the dumpster ordinance (Ordinance 21.17). The Village now requires a $25 permit for temporary dumpsters and temporary storage containers like PODS. They are only allowed on premises for 30 days, need to be placed on hardened surface and at least 15 feet from the nearest property line.

Duties of the Inspector

The Inspector may serve notices, deliver Certificates of Occupancy, cause to be issued “Stop and Desist” orders, and such other matters as shall fall within his enforcement duties under the Town/Village of Somers Code of Ordinances.
