Somers Highway 142 Interceptor Sewer and Water Project awarded to Globe Contractors, Inc. for the bid amount of $2,450,000.00.
The Somers Village Board of Trustees awarded the Somers Highway 142 Interceptor Sewer and Water Project to Globe Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $2,450,000.00 by a vote of 7 to 0 at their meeting held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015.
The project involves the installation of a new 24” sanitary sewer line, a 24” storm sewer line, and 16”water main line beginning at Highway 31 and 31st Street. The installation will proceed west to First Park 94, Somers first industrial park located on the corner of Highways H and S. The sewer and water design will accommodate servicing a fully developed First Park 94 with the capacity to extend west of Highway H.
The approved bid includes the cost for alternate number 1 which related to jacking and boring the three utilities under county road EA instead of open cutting the roadway in the middle of winter and a 10% construction contingency budget. The project’s completion date is scheduled for May 1, 2016, which coincides with the completion of the first 600,000 square foot building in First Park 94.
To finance the cost of this project, the Village Board approved a municipal financing tool called a Tax Increment District. The District includes any development within the 309-acre First Park 94 development. The revenues generated by the development in the district will be dedicated to pay for the debt service of utilities and other costs. No taxpayer money will be used to pay for the sewer and water service to this District.
The deadline for bids was December 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM. After the official closing time, Timothy Kitzman, Clerk-Treasurer publicly opened the bids and Kevin Risch of Clark Dietz, Inc. read them aloud. Bids were received from Advanced Construction, Inc., A.W. Oakes & Sons, Inc., D.F. Tomasini Contractors, Inc., Dorner, Inc., Globe Contractors, Inc., Reesman Excavating & Grading, Inc., Super Excavators, Inc. and Willkomm Excavating & Grading, Inc.
