Residents were able to get their questions answered about the upcoming infrastructure improvements along Sheridan Road north 0f 17th Avenue during the information meeting held Jan. 17, 2021 at the the Somers Village/Town Hall, 7511 12th St. (Highway E).
The water and sewer lines along Sheridan Road were inspected in the spring of 2020 to assess which ones need to be repaired.

The Village of Somers has hired Musson Brothers, Inc. to reline both public sanitary sewer mains and private sanitary service laterals.
The Village was able to secure a low interest loan for the project. While replacement of a sewer lateral can cost up to $10,000, residents with a failing connection have the opportunity to get the work done at a cost of $1,000, with the Village picking up any cost in excess of that amount.
It is the responsibility of each property owner to maintain their private sanitary service lateral. Homeowners will be responsible for the cost of the repairs located on their properties.
Since the contractor will need access to the property, residents are asked to sign a release.
During construction, residents may experience uneven road surfaces and elevated sanitary sewer manholes. Residents should take caution navigating the streets during the construction process. Water service will be interrupted briefly while water mains are being replaced. You will be notified prior to water service shutoff.
The work is expected to be completed by the fall if weather allows.
A letter was mailed to residents affected by the project. A copy of the letter and the release is available here.
