The Somers Fire and Rescue Department paid a visit to Somers Elementary School on Oct. 13, 2021.
Firefighters taught them basic fire safety like “Stop, Drop, and Roll,” what smoke detector sound like and what it means as well as how to safely get out of a house in case of a fire. They also had a chance to practice their new skills with the Kenosha County Smoke House, which simulates fire conditions.
The children also toured the department’s fire trucks and learned how they work.
They had the chance to meet a special friend, Sparky, the official mascot of the National Fire Protection Association.
