Kenosha County Department of Public Works is holding a public meeting Dec. 1, 2021 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Somers Village Hall, 7511 12th Street, to discuss a proposed single-lane roundabout at the intersection of Highway Y (22nd Avenue) and County A (Seventh Avenue).
The purpose of the project is to improve the safety of the intersection.
The crash rate for this intersection is 1.41 crashes per million entering vehicles (2013-2017), which is significantly higher than the statewide average of 1.0 for similar rural intersections.
Permanent right-of-way acquisition would be required to accommodate a roundabout at this intersection. Temporary grading easements would also be required to construct the improvements. The County’s real estate representatives will be available to answer questions you may have regarding the real estate acquisition process.
