Somers resident Jesse Greiner, a Boy Scout, is raising funds for his Eagle Scout Project: two benches for Somers Memorial Park and a kiosk to display notices for residents in front of the Village & Town Hall.

Greiner, who is turning 14 on April 14, moved to the Village in 2007 and has enjoyed the park since then.

“I have been playing in the park since I was 6 years old.” he writes in his proposal. “I have many great memories of playing, walking, riding my bike and watching sports events there. There has been just one bench near the play structures and they could use more.”

He is currently raising funds for materials for the project, which he estimates at about $1,600. Anyone can donate to the project at this link.

Construction is be expected to be complete by the Fourth of July.
