Introduction

Great neighborhoods do not grow by accident or without public debate and agreed-upon guidelines. Collaborative planning processes and neighborhood plans are the building blocks of such great communities. Planning helps maintain and promote livable, vital communities.

These Plans are intended to capture a shared vision for Somers neighborhoods. They are a statement reflecting neighborhood pride, and they indicate how residents want the Village and county to manage growth and development in the future. These Plans help elected officials make decisions that reflect the short and long term wishes of the neighborhoods. It helps prioritize the Village’s human and financial resources to provide the necessary public infrastructure and amenities needed to maintain a high quality of life. In doing so, the Plans also seek to foster sustainable development that is in keeping with Somers small-town residential character.
