Somers Firefighter/EMT Ben Andersen, center, and Tara Strom, wife of Somers Training Capt. Aaron Strom, serve up chili during the Winterfest Chili Cook-off held Feb. 21 at Roma Lodge in Mount Pleasant. The cook-off was a competition of chili recipes from about 20 area fire and police organizations and the team of Somers Professional Firefighters Local #4831 took first place in the competition. Proceeds raised at the event, co-sponsored by Roma Lodge and the South Shore Fire Dept.’s firefighters local, will go to the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation Inc. and its summer camp for burn-injured children. The annual camp takes place every summer at Camp Timberlee near East Troy.
